Gr. πῆξις fixing], the process by which a virus particle becomes attached to a cell wall and incorporated into the cell by phagocytosis; ˈvirosome [-some4], (a) a particle of ribonucleoprotein and virus DNA found in the cytoplasm of certain virus-infected cells; (b) a liposome into which viral proteins have been introduced.
