hypural, a. (n.)|hɪp-, haɪˈpjʊərəl| [f. Gr. ὑπ(ό hypo- 2 + οὐρά tail + -al1.] Situated beneath the tail; spec. in Ichthyol. applied to the bones beneath the axis of the tail, which support fin-rays. Also absol. as n.
