▪ I. † ˈhearsum, hersum, a. Obs. Forms: 1 híer-, hér-, hýrsum, héarsum, 2 hersam, 2–4 hersum, 3 hærsum, (horsom). [OE. híersum = OFris. hârsum, OHG. hôrsam, f. stem of híeran, Goth. hauzjan to hear: see -some. Héarsum was a later OE. by-form.] Ready to hear; obedient, compliant; dutiful, devout.
