heˈmitropous, a. [f. as prec. + -ous.] 1. Cryst. = hemitropic (Mayne Expos. Lex.). 2. Bot. Said of an ovule having a form intermediate between the anatropous and orthotropous, so that the hilum lies halfway between the base and the apex.
