greffier (ˈgrɛfɪə(r), Fr. grefje) Also 7 grephier, 8 griffier. [a. F. greffier, f. greffe: see graff n.1] 1. A registrar, clerk, or notary. Chiefly with reference to foreign countries or to the Channel Islands.
