gonys Ornith.|ˈgɒnɪs| [App. a mistake for genys = Gr. γένυς under-jaw; first used by Illiger in 1811.] The ‘keel’ of a bird's bill; the inferior margin of the symphysis of the lower jaw. Hence goˈnydeal a., of or pertaining to the gonys.
