Genro Obs. exc. Hist.|ˈgɛnrəʊ| [Jap., = principal elders, f. gen root + ro old.] The ‘elder statesmen’ of Japan, a former body of retired statesmen who were at times informally consulted by the emperor. Also, a member of this body.
