troponin Biochem.|ˈtrəʊpənɪn, ˈtrɒ-| [f. tropomyosin + -n- + -in1.] A globular protein complex consisting of three subunits (troponin C, troponin I, and troponin T) which is related to and occurs with tropomyosin in the thin filaments of muscle tissue and is important in the mechanism of muscle contraction.
