Name of a district and city in the state of Tamil Nadu (formerly in the Madras presidency) in S. India; used attrib., as Trichinopoli chain, Trichinopoli cigar, Trichinopoli work; also absol. = Trichinopoli cigar (colloq. abbreviated to trichi).
