‖ Ophidia, n. pl. Zool.|əʊˈfɪdɪə| [mod.L. deriv. of Gr. ὄϕι-ς serpent: app. an arbitrary formation to provide a term in -ia, analogous to Reptilia, Sauria, Crocodilia, etc. (It can hardly represent Gr. ὀϕίδια pl. of ὀϕίδιον, Ophidium.)] An order of Reptiles containing the snakes or serpents.
