aeroˈnautics [ad. mod.L. āeronautica, adj. pl. neut. (see aeronautic), literally ‘matters pertaining to sailing the atmosphere’; in Chambers 1753 in its L. form: see -ics.] The science, art, or practice of sailing in the air; aerial navigation.
