skutterudite Min.|ˈskʊtərədaɪt| [ad. G. skutterudit (W. von Haidinger Handb. der bestimm. Mineral., etc. (1845) iv. 560), f. Skutterud, name of a village in SE. Norway (now called Skotterud): see -ite1.] An arsenide of cobalt, ideally CoAs3, that commonly contains other elements, esp. nickel, iron, bismuth, and sulphur, and is found as grey cubic crystals with a metallic lustre.
