epidosite Petrogr.|ɛˈpɪdəsaɪt| [ad. G. epidosit (L. Pilla 1845, in Neues Jahrb. f. Min., Geognosie, Geol. 64), altered form of epidote: cf. Gr. ἐπίδοσις a free or additional giving, and see -ite1.] A rock composed chiefly of granular or fibrous epidote with some quartz.
