‖ parapophysis Anat.|pærəˈpɒfɪsɪs| [mod.L., f. Gr. παρ(α- beside + apophysis.] An anterior or ventral transverse process of a vertebra, in some animals greatly developed and serving as articulation for the head of a rib.
