▪ I. ‖ parapsis1|pəˈræpsɪs| Pl. -apsides. [mod.L., f. Gr. παρ(α- beside + ἀψίς, ἁψίς, in sense ‘circle, arch, vault’. In mod.F. parapside.] Each of the two lateral pieces of the mesoscutum of the thorax of an insect, by means of which it is articulated with the wing.
