talayot Archæol.|təˈlɑːjɒt| [a. Cat. talaiot small watch-tower, ad. Arab. (Muslim Spain) ṭāli‘āt, pl. of ṭāli‘a watch-tower; cf. Arab. ṭalī‘a with similar meaning.] A Bronze Age stone tower found in the Balearic Islands, usu. circular with a corbelled roof, used for residential or defensive purposes. Hence talaˈyotic a.
