diphenhydramine Pharm.|ˌdaɪfɛnˈhaɪdrəmiːn| [f. diphenyl + hydr- (perh. from hydrol) + amine.] An antihistamine compound, (C6H5)2CH·O·CH2CH2N(CH3)2, used in the form of its hydrochloride, a white powder with a bitter taste, in the treatment of allergic disorders. Also ellipt. for diphenhydramine hydrochloride.
