- a US organization for book reviewers (= people who write articles giving their opinions of new books). It was established in 1974. In 1976 it started presenting the National Book Critics Circle Awards. These are chosen by a group of reviewers and authors, and given to writers of fiction, non-fiction, biography or autobiography, poetry and criticism.
