2Chiefly NZ. A small New Zealand tree, Hedycarya arborea (family Monimaceae), having red berries favoured by the New Zealand pigeon, Hemiphaga novaezeelandiae.
3Chiefly South African. The southern African tree Trema orientalis (family Ulmaceae), having black fruits favoured by pigeons.
