释义	Johnston, Joseph E. /ˈjänstən / (1807–91), American soldier and US politician; full name Joseph Eggleston Johnston. A Confederate general, he was defeated by Grant at Vicksburg and surrendered to Sherman in 1865. From Virginia, he later served in the US House of Representatives 1879–81.
