Garn, Stanley M. (Marion)

(1922– ) physical anthropologist; born in New London, Conn. He was a professor at Antioch College (1952–68) before becoming a professor of nutrition and fellow of the Center for Human Growth and Development at the University of Michigan (1968). An evolutionist and specialist on human races, he has made major contributions to pediatrics and gerontology with research on the interaction of genetics with bone development and aging.
