释义 | Geiringer, KarlGeiringer, Karl(1899–1989) musicologist; born in Vienna, Austria. He served as custodian of Vienna's Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde archives before fleeing the Nazis. After lecturing at London's Royal College of Music (1939–40), he came to the U.S.A. and taught at Boston University (1941–62) and the University of California: Santa Barbara (from 1962). He is best known for his biographies of Austro-German composers, including Haydn (1932), Brahms (1934, 3rd ed. 1981), and Bach (1966). |
