Question

Country: United States of America
State: MichiganAt work, I was transferred from Michigan to another state. I did not have much time to move, so I asked a friend to help. With my money, he rented a moving truck, and put all of my belongings into a storage unit. Now two months later, he tells me that he sold all my belongings because I owed him 200 dollars for helping me move, and even though I hadn't come yet to move my things to my new resident state, that's what I owed therefore the sale of MY belongings was justified. Can he do this? And do I have a case?

Answer

No--Based on what you say here, you could probably file suit against him (orate least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney.you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to his behavior.
