Friedrich von Huene
Huene, Friedrich von
Born Mar. 22, 1875, in Tübingen; died there Apr. 4, 1969. German paleontologist.
In 1899, Huene graduated from the university in Tübingen, where he later became a professor of geology and paleontology. His primary works dealt with Paleozoic and Mesozoic fossil reptiles of Europe, mainly Germany, and of South America, southern Africa, and India. Huene’s religious views were reflected in his scientific work: he was an opponent, for example, of the Darwinian conception of the evolution of the organic world.
Huene was a foreign corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1929).
