gangmaster
gangmaster (ˈɡæŋˌmɑːstə) n (Agriculture) a person who recruits and manages temporary or migratory labourers, esp for seasonal agricultural workgangmaster
gangmaster a person acts as a gangmaster if he supplies a worker to do specified work for another person or if he uses a worker to do work in connection with services provided by him to another person. Supply and use are widely defined to avoid technical avoidance. So a person acting as a gangmaster commits an offence if he is unlicensed and uses a worker to do any of the following work: harvesting or otherwise gathering agricultural produce, gathering shellfish, processing or packaging agricultural produce. Agricultural produce in this context means any produce derived from agriculture. A person who knowingly benefits from the services of an unlicensed gangmaster, himself commits an offence. |
