a type of wandering cell with a small, round nucleus found in the epithelium and lamina propria of the intestinal mucosa of many animals; its cytoplasm contains large eosinophilic globules or droplets.

An obsolete term for a cell capable of migrating through tissue, and which has eosinophilic granules; e.g., mast cell.
