Vantsevichius, Genrikas Prano

(Henrikas Vancēvičius). Born Jan. 2, 1924, in Kaunas. Soviet stage director. People’s Artist of the USSR (1978). Member of the CPSU since 1960.

Vantsevichius graduated from the State Institute of Theatrical Arts in 1953. He became principal stage director of the Kaunas Theater in 1953 and of the Lithuanian Academic Drama Theater in 1966. His productions have included Grūšas’ Gerkus Mantas (1957), Vishnevskii’s The First Cavalry Army (1957), Marcink-evičius’ Twentieth Spring (1958), Chekhov’s Three Sisters (1960), Avižius’ In the Whirlwind (1970) and The Lost Hearth (1975), Baltakis’ The Bridge (1970), Aitmatov and Mukhamedzhanov’s The Ascent of Mount Fuji (1974), and Grūšas’ Circus (1976).
