Lomblen
one of the Lesser Sunda Islands, belonging to Indonesia. The island has an area of 1,300 sq km, with highlands and mountains rising to 1,644 m (Sirung volcano). The climate is subequatorial monsoonal, and annual precipitation averages about 1,000 mm. The island is covered with alang-alang thickets, small tracts of eucalyptus and teak forests, and groves of coconut palms. Tropical agriculture and fishing are the chief occupations. The principal towns are Balaurin and Labala.
