Arlberg (ärl`bĕrk), pass, 5,946 ft (1,812 m) high, W Austria, on the boundary between Tyrol and Vorarlberg. The Arlberg region forms the water divide between rivers flowing to the North Sea and those flowing into the Black Sea. The Arlberg Tunnel (built 1880–84) is one of the world's longest (6.2 mi/9.9 km) railway tunnels. The Arlberg district is a noted winter sports center. |
