Russian Steppe Courser

 

a breed of hunting dog of the borzoi group. The breed was developed in the USSR in the steppe regions of the southern RSFSR from Crimean, Caucasian, and Middle Asian borzois. It is smaller than but similar in appearance to the Russian wolfhound. The males stand 62–70 cm high at the shoulder, and the females, 59–67 cm. The coat is short, straight, and wiry; the coloration varies. The Russian steppe courser is bred in small numbers in the USSR for hunting rabbit and fox.
