Four-Power Pact of 1933
Four-Power Pact of 1933
a pact signed on July 15 in Rome by representatives of Great Britain, France, Italy, and Germany. The parties to the Four-Power Pact sought to settle their differences and create a common anti-Soviet front. Reaffirming the obligations of states according to the Locarno Treaties of 1925, the pact established Germany’s “equality of rights” with respect to armament and obligated the signatory states to pursue a coordinated policy in all international issues. It was not ratified because of disagreements between the signatories.
