Direct lift control is obtained by deflecting a flap or similar wing surface while simultaneously increasing the tail lift by increasing its incidence or camber. The overall lift can thus be increased directly with no change in pitch angle.Using aerodynamic surfaces to provide instantaneous control of the rate of descent without having to change the pitch angle of the aircraft.
