Deisenhofer, Johann

(dī`zənhō'fər), 1943–, German chemist, Ph.D. Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry, 1974. He was a researcher at the Max Planck Institute until 1987 when he joined the staff at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.
