A popular term for a person preparing for the end of the world. Unique in their beliefs, motivations and strategies, preppers go to any lengths to make sure they are prepared for any of life’s uncertainties. DPs’ prepare for worst case scenarios—solar flares, economic collapse, pandemics, nuclear war, terrorism, food shortages, etc.—and may go as far as building and supplying shelters in which they can store food and supplies, and which will protect against disasters (e.g., bomb shelters).
