Location:100 miles east of Sacramento via I-80, just west of downtown Truckee, on the south side of the freeway.
Facilities:154 developed family campsites, picnic areas, hiking and ski trails,nature trails, boat ramp access, visitor center, museum, exhibits(é).
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating, sailing, hiking, swimming, windsurfing, water-skiing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing.
Special Features:The ill-fated Donner Party, halted by heavy snows, camped here duringthe winter of 1846. Park's Emigrant Trail Museum features exhibits onthe Donner Party and area history. Near the museum is the PioneerMonument and the Donner Party's Murphy family cabin site.
