phacomatosis phac·o·ma·to·sis (fak'ō-mă-tō'sis), A generic term for a group of hereditary diseases characterized by hamartomas involving multiple tissues; for example, von Hippel-Lindau disease, neurofibromatosis, Sturge-Weber syndrome, tuberous sclerosis.
