1976–, Colombian lawyer and political leader, b. Bogotá, grad. Sergio Arbolida Univ., Bogotá, 2000, studied American Univ. and Georgetown Univ., Washington, D.C. From a well-to-do, politically connected family, he worked as a consultant in the Andean Development Corp. and as an adviser at the Colombian finance ministry.  and a member of the right-wing Democratic Center party, he served as a senator from 2014 to 2018. An opponent of the 2016 peace accord with the FARC rebel group, he has since advocated changes to that agreement. In 2018 he was elected president of Colombia.
