du Pont, Henry Francis

(1880–1969) businessman, museum founder; born in Winterthur, Del. (son of Henry Algernon du Pont). He studied at Harvard (B.A. 1903), and became a director of the family chemical business, E. I. du Pont de Nemours & Co., Wilmington, Del. (1915–69). He is most noted for founding the Henry Francis du Pont Winterthur Museum (1951) that features displays of early American decorative arts, furniture, and horticultural gardens.
