Flemish Giant Rabbit
a breed of rabbits raised for their meat and pelts. The breed was developed in Belgium. Adults weigh about 5.5 kg, although some weigh as much as 9 kg. The young mature early, weighing 3.3 kg or more by four months. There are six or more young per litter. The thick fur is usually gray, dark gray, or black. The pelts are used in their natural form and in imitation of more expensive furs. Flemish Giants are raised in Belgium. They have been used in the USSR to improve other breeds and in developing the Gray Giant rabbit.
