Brush Cutter

a tractor-mounted implement for clearing brush and small trees from areas when preparing land for agricultural crops, clearing routes for the construction of roads and canals, and setting up forest cuttings.

There are three types of brush cutters: ones that use two horizontal blades secured to a frame at an angle of about 60° to each other; ones that cut the wood into chunks and press it into the ground with a roller that has blades fixed to its surface; and ones that use horizontal blades revolving on a vertical axis. In the USSR the D-514A brush cutter with two horizontal blades is used. The operating width of the brush cutter is 3.6 m, and its productivity is up to 0.6 hectares per hr. It cuts brush and small trees with diameters between 50 and 300 mm. The brush cutter operates with a T-100MGP tractor in second gear.
