单词 | bekenstein bound |
释义 | Bekenstein boundBekenstein boundA result that relates the area of a surface and the maximum amount of information about the Universe on one side of the surface that can pass through to an observer on the other side. It states that the number of bits of information an observer can gain must be less than or equal to one quarter of the surface area in Planck units. This result is related to the entropy of black holes since entropy is related to both information theory and the area of the event horizon of a black hole. The Bekenstein bound was derived and discussed by Jacob Bekenstein in papers he wrote in the mid 1970s but its importance was not appreciated until 20 years later. |
