Cronyn, Hume

(1911– ) stage and film actor; born in London, Ontario. While studying law at McGill University, he enjoyed success as an actor in Montreal, so he came on to New York (1934) and soon gained a reputation as a character actor, first on the stage and, starting in 1943, in many movies. Over the years he often teamed with his wife (since 1942), Jessica Tandy. He wrote film and stage adaptations and directed for the theater.
