Diazoamino Compounds

organic compounds of the general formula , where R is more frequently an aromatic group and R’ is an aromatic or acyclic group (one of the R’ groups may be hydrogen).

Diazoamino compounds are usually made by reacting diazonium salts with primary or secondary aromatic or acyclic amines, which are used as stabilizers. Diazoamino compounds are colorless or yellow compounds, for the most part crystalline, and are unstable at high temperatures; many of them are explosive in a dust-air mixture. They are used for dyeing fabrics and in making plastic foams (their use is based on the evolution of nitrogen upon decomposition).
