A so-called transitional arrangement, which the UK’s General Medical Council (GMC) may impose on a doctor for up to 3 years under:
(1) The GMC's Preliminary Proceedings Committee and Professional Conduct Committee (Procedure) Rules 1988, for the finding of serious professional misconduct;
(2) The GMC's (Professional Performance) Rules 1997, for the finding of serious deficient performance; or
(3) The GMC's Health Committee (Procedure) Rules Order of Council 1987–97, for the finding that a doctor's fitness to practise is seriously impaired by reason of his or her physical or mental condition.
