[follicle + -stat + -in]follistatin (fŏl″ĭs-tă′tĭn) [ folli(cle) + ″] A protein that regulates the actions of activins in the body. It antagonizes the effects of many members of the transforming growth factor family of cytokines. One function of follistatin is to decrease the secretion of FSH. |
