Anzhu Islands

the central and largest islands in the Novosibirsk island group in the Laptev and East Siberian seas. The Anzhu Islands are Kotel’nyi, Faddeevskii, Novaia Sibir’, and Bel’kovskii. Their overall area is about 29,000 sq km. The landscape is dominated by low-lying accumulative plains (average altitude 60–80 m), occupied by arctic tundras. The islands were named after the polar explorer P. F. Anjou (in Russian, Anzhu).
