It is the source of the Prorva River, which via Lake Obole and the Drisviata River connects Lake Drisviaty with theDisna River, a tributary of the Zapadnaia Dvina. The regulated drainage of Lake Drisviaty runs the Friendship of the Peoples Hydroelectric Power Plant, which was built by the Lithuanian SSR, the Latvian SSR, and the Byelorussian SSR.
