Books in Old Russian Typeface

(staropechatnye knigi), the term used in Russia to designate printed works published prior to the introduction of Civil typeface by Peter I in 1708. These books usually contained religious and moralizing works and were written in Old Church Slavonic. Since they were produced in extremely small printings, they are very rare. The earliest printed books in Western Europe, published prior to 1501 from typesetting forms, are called incunabula.
