Fess, Simeon Davidson

(1861–1936) educator, U.S. senator; born near Lima, Ohio. President of Antioch College (1907–17), he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives (Rep., Ohio; 1913–23), where he championed women's suffrage. In the Senate (1923–35), he proved to be extremely conservative.
