Eastern Siberia
the eastern part of Siberia, including the territory from the Enisei (in the west) to the drainage divides along the Pacific Ocean (in the east). Area, 7.2 million sq km. A large part is taken up by the taiga of the Central Siberian Plateau, which alternates with tundra lowlands in the north and with high mountain ranges of the Zapadnyi and Vostochnyi Saian, Transbaikalia, and the Iana-Kolyma Krai in the south and east. The Yakut, Buriat, and Tuva ASSR’s, Krasnoiarsk Krai, and the Irkutsk and Chita oblasts of the RSFSR are located in Eastern Siberia.
